So I’m very proud of this project!! We’re working on completely remodeling our kitchen but we really don’t want to completely replace cabinets and countertops. Instead we decided to try something different and used some supplies we had leftover from other painting we did around the house. I chose a teal for our accent wall […]
Welcome back, my friends! If you’ve been following me since I started this blog a few weeks ago, you’ll know that I pair every project I create with an alcoholic beverage, for a job well done, if you will….well, I have just stumbled on the most amazing alcohol delivery website….Drizly!!! If you live in more […]
Well, hello there! Please allow me to introduce myself. I’m one Twisted Mother, who, in her spare time (what’s that?), just likes to keep her hands busy with all sorts of DIY projects from home improvements to dollar store decorating. I am just like many of you moms out there, working full-time, momming full-time (which, let’s face it, is the hardest job there is). However, I should fully disclose the fact that I’m not your run-of-the-mill Pinterest mommy. I actually nearly failed home economics, but managed to ace woodshop….my parents still love that story. I love my power tools. I know every sales associate by first name at all of my local hardware stores…(Thanks, Nelson for always helping me match crazy paint colors!)
How it all began: Both my Nanna and my Great Aunt Shirley spent an abundant amount of time teaching me various crafts from knitting and crocheting, to how to use a glue gun to fix literally anything. (All hail the mighty glue gun!)
How did we get here: My daughter discovered the wonderful world of Pinterest, and would show me different things she’d pinned to her board, to which I would reply (typically a glass or three of wine deep), “I can make that.” Then it just became a challenge. A perpetual back and forth with my fourteen year old daughter. I love being challenged. Game on!
The creation process: I go from “I can make that” mode to “let’s freaking do this” mode, in which I blare very loud music and get to work. I think many of us have done work where we don’t get to truly see an end result – an actual thing you can hold and touch. I love the feeling of when I’ve completed a project…then Mommy gets a treat! I pair every one of my projects with a cocktail, or beer or wine.
Be sure to check back often to see what I’m up to! Crack open a cold one and get ready for the fun!
